Strategy and Impact Intern

The role

The intern in this area will help with a variety of TechSoup projects related to strategic partner management and business development. Working closely with the team that manages TechSoup’s partnerships with leading technology companies, the intern will be responsible for researching trends in global philanthropy and corporate social responsibility, and finding practical applications for this research that fit into TechSoup’s business development strategy. The intern will also work closely with TechSoup’s Validation Services team, helping to develop marketing and sales materials that will help TechSoup tell its story to potential new partners.

 

The intern will contribute to projects that are both internally and externally facing, and may have the opportunity to have his/her work displayed to corporate partners. This role will require exceptional time management and organizational skills, as well as a willingness to work with many teams inside a large and fast-paced social enterprise. Design, marketing, writing, or research skills are a plus, but no prior experience is required for this role.

 

This internship will provide a great opportunity for anyone interested in a potential career in social impact! Spend the summer learning how to create impact at scale while working with a passionate and fun team.

 

Duties

  • Research into potential conferences, speaking engagements, and new ways to spread TechSoup’s message both in the United States and internationally
  • Develop communications for our corporate product donation and discount partners highlighting upcoming engagement opportunities and news about TechSoup
  • Working closely with the Marketing and Design teams to develop event collateral, sales and other outreach materials to support TechSoup’s partnership development efforts
  • Conducting interviews, writing and publishing articles and blogs that illustrate TechSoup’s impact on the nonprofit sector
  • Conducting research on the topic of corporate philanthropy and employee engagement, via online resources, phone calls or surveys
  • Composing a final report that illustrates the results of research study in an engaging and visual way

 

Qualifications

Must be actively and presently enrolled an accredited college or university at an undergraduate or graduate level.

Knowledge

  • Social networking and non-profit knowledge preferred.
  • Design, marketing, strong writing and research skills a plus
  • General knowledge of global philanthropy a plus

 

Skills

  • Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
  • Diplomacy and teamwork. 
  • Strong written and oral communication skills are a must
  • A desire to learn and commitment to TechSoup’s mission
  • Technical/functional skills suggested:
  • Video editing & production
  • Basic design using Adobe Creative Cloud
  • Clear and concise writing

  • Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Interact in a professional manner with a wide variety of people.

     

This is a full time, paid summer internship.
