Product Development Internship

Join the team at Caravan Studios this summer as we work to improve access to needed resources in communities around the world.  Caravan Studios is a division of TechSoup, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization located in San Francisco, CA.  We use technology so that communities can organize, access and connect to the resources they need. 

Our design thinking methodology has community input throughout, ensuring the developed applications are necessary, and meet the needs of the community.

Internship Opportunity

Caravan Studios is looking for interns who are eager to be a part of a team developing apps for social good. We are a small and creative team and we are looking for innovative students to jump in and collaborate with us!

Experience & Knowledge Required 

  • Experience working with web-based development processes
  • Experience working with and exposure to a programming language such as JavaScript
  • Pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Information Science, or equivalent. (Inter-disciplinary studies emphasizing designing for user experience is strongly desired.)
  • Have worked on prototypes or finished apps. Previous experience designing or developing apps is desired.
  • Good understanding of programming design & development concepts
  • Attention to detail, high degree of accuracy in daily work, ability to work independently and meet deadlines required
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills



  • Ability to work with multiple teams to develop, deploy and support Caravan Studios products
  • Contribute to open source technical projects
  • Collaborate with our product development and technology partners in Hungary



  • 3-5 days during the summer
  • Remote access may be possible for some activities as appropriate and effective
  • Minimum of 3 month internship


  • You'll have an impact on products that are important to community based organizations
  • Gain real-life experience in building and deploying technology tools for social good
  • Develop Portfolio examples to share with future employers
