Social Media Lead

TechSoup, “The Technology Place for Non-Profits,” is looking for a Social Media Lead who is passionate about using technology for social good.  This individual will be a critical contributor in creating and articulating the outbound social media communication and strategy for NGOsource and TechSoup social channels.

The Social Media Lead will be able to work within a team and execute in the fast-paced world of nonprofit, social media communication. This position involves working with our global network and creating a strategy to harness the social channels of our global network.

The Social Media Lead will report to the Senior Manager, Online Community and Social Media.  This is an onsite and full-time position with benefits.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Looking for a Social Media rock star willing to roll up sleeves and grow our Social Media department
  • Proven track record developing a social strategy that meets and surpasses department goals
  • Ability to build a leading social media department
  • Ability to understand social channel development and create or repurpose content across the social stack to help drive website traffic, support revenue goals and grow followers
  • Innovate new, creative ways to use social platforms and digital content to tell stories and interact with the audience for NGOsource and TechSoup channels
  • Have an understanding of social selling that helps engage the audience and nurture NGOs through the marketing funnel
  • Respond to follower questions and concerns shared through social media.
  • Write and create content on social networks such as Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, Pinterest , LinkedIn, and Instagram
  • Identify accounts to follow across social platforms and create lists for listening to influencers on relevant topics.
  • Participate in regular Twitter-chats.
  • Work cross-functionally with our global partner NGOs to gather assets to tell a global story
  • Demonstrate an ability to seek out valuable social good and nonprofit thought-leadership content
  • Develop an overall social editorial plan in coordination with the Senior Online Community manager, Marketing, and other stakeholders across TechSoup
  • Build, listen to, and cultivate the online community across TechSoup social channels
  • Provide insights and ongoing metrics

Experience

  • Minimum of 3 -5 years experience working in social or digital media, creating engaging content and experiences
  • Experience using Hootsuite for publishing and UberVu for social listening
  • A demonstrable passion for social media
  • Experience growing and engaging influencers and nurturing them through the marketing funnel
  • Bachelor’s Degree

Desired Experience

  • Excellent copywriting skills
  • Passion for social media, online communities, social good and nonprofit innovation
  • Digital media graphic skills (Photoshop, Illustrator)
