Social Media Intern

The role

This internship supports the Social Media team for TechSoup. Intern will be mentored on social media, with a focus on how social is critical in meeting department community engagement goals and learn how to get important messages out to the masses. The intern will help grow our social media channels, support our targeted Community Broadcast outreach efforts and our goal to increase registrations from targeted verticals over internship period. The intern will build out our influencer lists, utilize our social listening tool to discover high-value organization and engage with these verticals using social media tools while supervised.

 

Duties

  • Assist with creating and designing engaging social content on various channels: Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Instagram and Youtube.
  • Help curate content of top trending articles around Technology for Nonprofits, Museums, Religious Organizations, Libraries, and Foundations.
  • Help brainstorm fun ideas to implement in social.
  • Help engage online communities through our social platforms.
  • Assist with identifying influencers.
  • Assist with Facebook Lives, podcasts and other live experiences on social.

 

Qualifications

 

Education and Experience

  • Must be actively and presently enrolled an accredited college or university at an undergraduate or graduate level. Preferred Degrees: Marketing, Communications, and Social Media Management, Nonprofit Management or related field.
  • At least 1 year of experience in social media to meet organization or business goals.

Knowledge

  • Social networking and nonprofit knowledge preferred
  • User of social media channels.
  • Understanding of social trends and general marketing concepts.

Skills

  • Microsoft Office / Google Docs
  • Diplomacy and teamwork.
  • Technical/functional skills needed:
  • Design (Adobe CC, Canva, or interest to learn)
  • Tech-savvy - ability to learn new platforms.
  • Video
  • Photography

Abilities

  • Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Interact in a professional manner with a wide variety of people.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize tasks and meet requirements for timeliness and accuracy

 

This is a full time, paid summer internship.
